You know how it goes – birthdays are a big deal in any parent’s world, no matter how old your child is. We celebrated Demi’s 2nd bday at the end of June (her actual birthday is July 3rd, so it only made sense to do her friend party before!), and with her Two Groovy birthday theme, it was a big hit! We had the party at Bubbles Academy in Highland Park, and I’m not kidding – this was the easiest kid bday party I’ve ever thrown!
I should mention that Bubbles Academy is a playspace and early childhood education center that has numerous locations in the Chicagoland area. It’s an incredible place and not just for birthday parties – Demi and I took a music + art combo class there before she started going to school on her own and it was one of the best parent-tot classes I’ve ever taken. Super creative, extremely engaging, and really FUN (for Demi and for me!)

I brought all the Two Groovy birthday decorations, supplies, and snacks + treats to Bubbles the day before her actual party. Now, picture this: When we walked in on party day, the room was already decked out to perfection. Wall decorations? Check. Balloons? Floating. Snacks and treats? They were laid out in the most aesthetic way. Tables? Set and ready to roll. As the mom and host of the party, I felt like I was living in a dream – I hardly had to lift a finger! Haha!
Basically, I want to give a big shoutout to Bubbles Academy for making this whole party thing a breeze. Their attention to detail and commitment to making things seamless were game-changers. I know I already said it but seriously, this was the easiest party ever!

The Cake: Demi’s birthday cake was a masterpiece by Martha from Mariano’s Market in Northbrook. Seriously, she’s a cake wizard. I gave her a picture of the Two Groovy birthday banner I bought from Amazon and told her I trusted her to make a fun cake for Demi using that as inspo. She understood the assignment.
Balloons: We got our cute balloons from Party City and had them delivered because, well, that’s the only way! If you don’t know about balloon delivery, now you do and it will change your life! Party City, which is located all over the country, offers this service, and usually, they can even do a same-day turnaround. If you’re located in the Chicagoland area, I also love to use Paris312, a local balloon delivery company offering an incredible, more upscale product. Decorations: Amazon came to the rescue with all the adorable decorations to set up our two groovy birthday party scene. Plus, it was all so inexpensive!!!!
Goody Bags: Each little guest left with a Birthday Dough Jar from Young, Wild, and Friedman. Huge hit!!
Party Treats + Drinks: Costco, of course! It’s our go-to for kids’ birthdays, and it never disappoints. PS I shared a reel with 4 Costco items to grab for a stress-free birthday party that you will want to take a look at!
Lunch: We served two mini bagels and lox platters from Once Upon a Bagel, which were a hit for kids and grown-ups.
Demi’s Dress: Demi rocked an adorable little dress from The Gap, perfectly fitting our “Two Groovy” theme. Sadly, it’s sold out but I hope the pics of her in it can provide some inspo for your little one!
