As a mom of three energetic (and hungry) kiddos, I know firsthand the endless juggling act that is our daily routine. Finding snacks that are not only wallet-friendly but also nutritious can be a real challenge. That’s why I’m thrilled to share with you 12 of my family’s go-to cheap healthy snacks that you’ll feel good about sending your kids to school with. These snacks aren’t just better for your kids nutritionally, with cleaner ingredients than most classic packaged snacks on the market, but they’re also pretty yummy! They’re totally kid-approved, so you won’t have to deal with fussy eaters arguing with you about their snacks for later on in the day during the morning rush. Obviously, I’m confident your littles will love them as much as mine!
Let’s Dive Into The Snacks
But first, please know that you can purchase these snacks online with direct links to buy them towards the bottom of this blog post!
Bear Snacks Fruit Rolls are 100% natural with no added sugar. Plus, they’re non-GMO, gluten-free, vegan, and kosher. You can find them in Whole Foods, Target, and Amazon but I have found the cheapest place to buy them is Walmart.
Quaker Rice Crisps are the G.O.A.T. Why? Because they’re gluten-free and popped, not fried and each flavor they offer is spot on. I like to buy the multi-pack that comes with their caramel, cheddar cheese, tangy buttermilk ranch and sweet apple cinnamon flavors. Buy them at an inexpensive price at Walmart.
Pamala’s Honey Minis is one of my kids’ favorites! Did I mention that they’re gluten-free, too? I buy them at Target, where I first spotted them months ago!
The Good & Gather Veggie Straws are superior to that other more well-known veggie straw brand (wink, wink) because the bags they come in are smaller and the portion size is better for everyone. We are big fans of this Target find.
Demi favorite snack in the house is apple sauce pouches! The Organic Apple Banana Fruit Crushers from Trader Joe’s are her absolute favorite and I am more than okay with that. Especially since they are the cheapest brand who makes these on the market! Plus, I love that they come in so many different flavors. Read more about them here.
Lesser Evil popcorn is made with the good stuff and without the bad. Without question, my kids love it’s unique, delicious flavor and always reach for it when we have it stocked in our pantry! You can find it at Whole Foods, yet it’s cheapest at Target!
Mott’s Fruit Gummies are made with real fruit and real fruit juice. Plus, they have no artificial flavoring or artificial dye colors, which is important to me. Most grocery stores carry these but I always order the Family Size from Amazon, as I find it’s a lot of bang for your buck! These are definitely one of our favorite cheap healthy snacks!
Pirate’s Booty is always a classic and always a fan favorite. They’re baked, not fried, made with real cheese, and do not have any artificial colors or preservatives included in the ingredient list. YES. Most grocery stores have them; I like to get a big box via Amazon or if I am at Costco I will pick them up there, as they sell an even bigger box!
When the kids want something sweet and chocolatey, these are our go-to! Made Good’s Soft-Baked Mini Cookies taste decadent and delicious. And they’re gluten-free, nut-free, and made with ingredients you can pronounce. Amazon has the best deal on these the majority of the time!
These Crunchy Roasted Edamame Beans are for the salt lovers! They’re a high protein, keto-friendly, gluten-free, and vegan snack and my kids LOVE them. They are super unique and will leave you feeling satisfied. I first bought them on Amazon and continue to do so.
These Trader Joe’s PB & J Snack Duo Wafer Sticks with Raspberry Fruit Dip are my kids’ obsession but if your kids go to a nut-free school, keep them home! My boys do not, so we have the green-light to bring them to school but I typically leave them home anyways to be respectful of our nut-free friends. I wanted to include them on this list of cheap healthy snacks because my kids love them. If you have no nut-allergies in your house, grab them STAT! Learn more about them on the Trader Joe’s website or you can order them via Amazon!
Annie’s Cheddar Bunnies are always a tried-and-true snack fave! I have to be honest and share that my kids don’t love most of the other Annie’s brand snacks, but they sure do love these! And as a parent, I like that they’re organic and baked with wholesome ingredients. I always buy them at Target!

I had the Neat Method come over, and they completely transformed my life with their professional organizing tricks! Years later, I am still able to keep my pantry organized!
It should be noted that we use a ‘snack basket’ to keep our snacks at home organized. After I buy all our favorite cheap healthy snacks, I throw them into the basket. LOL. It’s the one place in the pantry where my kids can choose what they want, and I don’t have to worry about separating the snacks. It’s purposely chaotic, and I am here for that as a mom!
These Cheap Healthy Snacks are Not Just for School!
Also, these snacks are perfect for more than just school snack time! They’re a convenient option for on-the-go snacking, whether you and your fam are on a road trip or you’re running all the mom errands. Plus, they’re great for packing in your child’s lunchbox and feeling good about them eating healthy without breaking the bank.
