First, I’ll start by saying that this post was inspired by many of you who have messaged me asking where they can give back locally! It’s obviously the season to do a little house cleaning and there’s no better feeling than donating the stuff that no longer works for your family to be repurposed to someone who needs it and appreciates it!!

Every year, I try to clean out my own closets every six months, but for some reason I always neglect the kids closets. Why? Because they are DAUNTING, haha. But I recently tackled them {finally!!} and gathered 8 giant black garbage bags of baby + kids clothes to donate!

With that said, I have put together this list of amazing not-for-profit organizations in Chicago that make it EASY for community members like you and me to give back! Because to do good is to be good. And helping others truly feels good.

Without further ado, let’s dive into the list! And for even more information on each not-for-profit, click on the organization names below!

Cradles to Crayons Chicago

???? With donation centers all over Chicago + surrounding suburbs, Cradles to Crayons makes it easy to donate new and gently worn clothing, shoes and books in sizes newborn to adult medium!

Share Our Spare

???????? They seek to ensure every child in Chicago has the essentials they need to thrive in the first five years of life. Donate new {think diapers, bottles, pacifiers, etc} and gently used {think toys, high chairs, changing pads} baby items for them to give to local families living in poverty.

Bernie’s Book Bank

???? Bring high-quality new and gently-used children’s books to one of their book drop-off locations for distribution to under-served children in the Chicagoland area.

The Ark Chicago

???? Toiletries + food pantry donations {must be certified kosher with at least 6 months before expiration} will feed those in need in the Jewish community.

Toys for Tots

???? They collect new, unwrapped toys and distribute them as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community! In case you come across any unopened games or toys in your house, this is the place to bring them!

One more thing!! Levi and I took half of the bags to one of the Cradles to Crayons drop-off pods yesterday and it sparked a whole conversation about giving back. Brody and I will take the other half on another day. This is what parenting is all about!!!
