Anyone else feel like their car is practically an extension of their living room at this point? Between school pick-ups, soccer/basketball/baseball (insert your kids’ sports here) practice, and playdates, it’s inevitable that us mamas are constantly in the car with (or without) our kids! And while I’ve been known to go around and ask my kid’s friends about their favorite tunes, and then play them for everyone in the car to jam out to, sometimes it’s nice to switch things up, especially when the backseat crew starts getting a little too silly or they’re feeling restless! That’s when I turn to podcasts – the ultimate lifesaver for kids and parents alike! Kids listen, engage, and learn while we tackle the road together.
With that said, not only are podcasts a lifesaver for long car rides, but they’re honestly wonderful for any time you need a little peace and quiet in the house. We also love to turn on our favorite kid podcasts when we’re cleaning up the basement toys after a fun-filled day, or when we go on a short walk before bed outside as a family. Podcasts can be educational, entertaining, and can spark some serious imagination – as well as deeper conversation with your kids. It’s amazing how much kids listen and absorb when they’re engaged with a good podcast!
As a mom of three kids of all different ages, I’m just gonna put it out there that over the years I’ve become a bit of a podcast-for-kids pro. We love them because they are not just background noise; they’re engaging adventures that kids listen to intently, sparking their curiosity and creativity along the way.
Here’s my top 10 list of kid-approved podcasts that will have your little ones begging for “just one more episode” (you’ve been warned!):
Preschoolers:
- Little Stories Everywhere: Your kids will love this podcast, with new episodes out every Tuesday that bring exciting adventures with brand new and classic tales, all brought to life by amazing storytellers!
- Circle Round: Folktales from around the world come alive with music and storytelling in this charming podcast.
- Story Pirates: Get ready for hilarious and imaginative stories created by kids, for kids. The Story Pirates take stories written by kids and turns them into sketch comedy and songs.
- Super Simple Imagination Time with Caitie: Caitie uses music and stories to take kids on magical adventures that spark their creativity!
Elementary Schoolers:
