I LOVE NYC! I mean, who doesn’t? My husband and I have a special love affair with the city that never sleeps, and we try to go every few years for a quick mom-and-dad-only getaway. We are obsessed with the vibe, the energy, and the city hustle. If you ask us, everything about the big apple is just so special. Eventually, we will take our whole family there, but while the kids are still young, New York for 2 days for a parents-only trip is our jam. It’s not a relaxing vacay, but it is a great way to have fun and reconnect with each other again.

I’m sharing all the NYC hot spots you must hit up to make the hours count! I truly hope that this blog post helps you squeeze the most adventure and excitement out of your quick city visit! So buy the tickets, pack your bags – and your most comfortable sneakers because there is going to be A LOT of walking involved – and let’s jump right into what an amazing 48-hour adventure in New York City looks like!

1. Chelsea Market – One of My Faves

Chelsea in general has a pretty sweet vibe, and you can’t miss Chelsea Market. You can stroll through it quickly or get lost inside its awesomeness for hours. It’s a great place to go if you’re there on a rainy day. You’ll love!!

2. Soho – Shop ’til You Drop

Soho is a shopping mecca with all the stores you’ve ever dreamt of set amongst the cutest cobblestone streets! It’s lively yet intimate as the neighborhood streets are small, and it’s one of the coolest areas of NYC.

3. Bleecker Street in the West Village – Charming and Quaint

Bleecker Street in the West Village is the definition of quaint and adorable. You’ll find a mix of smaller designer boutiques and big-name stores. Some of my faves are Lele Sadoughi, Little Words Project, LoveShackFancy, Stoney Clover, and more! Make sure you stop into Magnolia Bakery for a cupcake – this was the first of their many bakeries which you can now find in other areas of NYC, in West Hollywood, CA, and in Chicago.

4. Bryant Park – A Great Place to Stroll By

Bryant Park is great for a casual stroll. If it’s nice out, you can grab a bite from one of the many street food vendors in that area and eat in the park. You might even stumble upon a kids’ chess tournament there – we did, and it was fun to watch!

5. Times Square – Unavoidable NYC Icon

Yes, Times Square is the ultimate tourist attraction, and while it’s busy, you can’t go to NYC without passing through this iconic spot. That’s my opinion, and I’m sticking to it!

6. Central Park – A Slice of Serenity

Central Park offers serenity amid such a hustling and bustling city. After a relaxing walk (or grab a horse and carriage ride), treat yourself to lunch at Tavern on the Green. If the weather’s nice, wait in line to sit outside – it’s worth it!

7. Meatpacking District – Chic and Delicious

Head to the Meatpacking District for a day of shopping, tons of delicious restaurants (we love eating at Serafina New York!), and that chic feeling you get just by being there.

8. The High Line – Stop and Smell the Flowers

If you’ve never been, The High Line is awesome and 100% worth exploring. Walk the whole thing and enjoy the flowers, greenery, and New York City views. The best!!

9. Hudson Yards Vessel – A Must-See

Make sure to check out the Hudson Yards Vessel. While you can no longer walk up it, it’s still a beauty to see from the ground.

10. 5th Avenue – High-End Shopping Galore

Stroll up and down 5th Avenue to explore higher-end, big-name brands and companies. It’s a shopping vibe like no other, even if you’re just walking by to window shop! Haha!

11. Rockefeller Center – Classic NYC Feels

Finally, make your way to Rockefeller Center for those classic NYC feels. It’s a must-visit spot that truly captures the city’s spirit. Note: if you go in the winter, they turn the part of the center that’s under the Christmas tree into an ice skating rink! We once went ice skating there and it was very cool! Definitely a bucket-list item, checked!

One thing I should note – my favorite time to travel to New York is in the fall, without question. The brisk air, the leaves on the ground, and the ability to walk all over the city with a light jacket on is like none other! Once Isaiah and I did NYC for 2 days in December and that was great too. Something about being there over the holidays is pretty incredible. The spring time is beautiful too, and it’s fun to go in the summer, though it can get HOT. Basically, there is no bad time to go! Whenever you visit, get ready for an unforgettable weekend in the city that never ceases to amaze. NYC is seriously the best and it’s all worth experiencing in a New York minute!!!! Xox
